The Lee Residence is an extensive remodel project located in south Pasadena. The site sits away from the street, offering the client a secluded dwelling while still taking advantage of the perfect California climate through a unique courtyard building. The project is broken up into two separate wings, one for the client and one for the client’s in-laws, connected by a 2-story volume in the middle.
The indoor/outdoor lifestyle sought by the client was delivered by incorporating large balconies, an intimate courtyard, and an electromechanical clerestory thermostatically controlled to create natural ventilation. Sustainable hardwoods were used throughout the project to further capitalize on the indoor/outdoor appeal of this home.
